Title : Coach - Assistant Coach-HS Cross Country
Location : Washington High School, Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS)
The Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS) is a district serving approximately 22,000 students with 60+ languages spoken. The district includes Sumner Academy and serves 28 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, and 5 high schools / partner academies. Responsibilities
- Directly assist the head coach as directed with the following : organize and direct coaching staff; collect physical examination forms; collect insurance release forms; report injuries to the school nurse; take inventory and submit a list of equipment needs; check out and collect all equipment; keep accurate records of lost or stolen equipment; provide a roster of players.
- Provide the Athletic Director with a list of athletes to receive awards and help plan the awards ceremony.
- Ensure proper team conduct on trips and during contests; know all rules pertaining to the sport; attend to injuries or athletes as needed; clean and maintain equipment and uniforms; organize practice sessions.
Qualifications
Certified teacher or must qualify for Rule 10 approval through the Kansas State High School Activities Association.Other Requirements / Skills
Communication and organization : maintain communication with school personnel and parents / guardians; utilize technology effectively; perform related duties as required.Reasoning ability : solve practical problems with limited standardization; interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.Language skills : read, analyze, and interpret professional materials; write reports and correspondence; present information clearly to groups of administrators, staff, parents, students, and the public.Physical demands : regular activity including sitting, walking, standing, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; reasonable accommodations as needed.Work environment : standard school environment with potential for loud conditions; safety of students is a responsibility.Other skills and abilities : apply current research / theory to instructional programs; plan and implement lessons according to objectives and student needs; establish effective working relationships with students, peers, parents, and the community.Terms of Employment & Compensation
