Argo Group US is a national underwriter of specialty insurance in niche areas of the property-casualty market.Focused on the success of each of our customers, Argo Group offers specialty coverage through its subsidiaries. Our full line of high-quality products and services is designed to meet the unique coverage and claim-handling needs of our Excess and Surplus Lines and Commercial Specialty segments.

Argo Group US currently has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Manager of Reinsurance Accounting in our Chicago office, reporting to the Director of Reinsurance Accounting. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to lead the financial reporting and accounting operations related to reinsurance activities across our U.S. business units. This role requires strong technical accounting skills, a deep understanding of reinsurance agreements, and the ability to work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders.

The primary responsibilities are :

• Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for reinsurance accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations and financial analysis.
• Manage the preparation of reinsurance reporting schedules for Statutory Annual Statements.
• Review and interpret both new and renewal reinsurance contracts to ensure appropriate accounting treatment and system configuration.
• Review and prepare bordereau reports for submission to external reinsurance markets in a timely and accurate manner.
• Prepare and deliver ad hoc management reports and financial analyses to support decision-making.
• Mentor staff, sharing knowledge and building a culture of continuous improvement.
• Support internal and external audit processes by providing timely and accurate documentation and responses.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal control requirements.
• Ad hoc projects and additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

The base salary range provided below is for hires in this geographic area only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.

Chicago : $129,700 - $152,800
