Job Summary :
The Quality Control Specialist ensures compliance with the regulations and guidelines related to the quality and safety of all food products. Appropriately monitor and respond to all process operating guidelines while making sure our products meet our high standards for consumption.
Essential Functions :
- Monitor and enforce plant good manufacturing practices on the production area. Coach employees when necessary
- Trains production team members on safe, quality food manufacturing
- Provides quality assurance to support all MFG initiatives
- Perform mid-shift operational GMP checks, baking and environmental checks, and label verifications
- Review quality and food safety records to ensure compliance and recordkeeping practices are followed
- Performs root cause analyses, identifies cost of lost opportunity and reduction of variation in processes
- Assists in implementing statistical sampling plans for raw materials, work in process and finished goods via divisional procedures
- Report all safety concerns and potential hazards while ensuring adherence to all plant safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to Lock Out / Tag Out
- Perform, verify and document all plant HACCP CCP's and QC standard checks
- Monitor and evaluate visually the efficiency of cleaning procedures for equipment, utensils, and work areas
- Perform internal audits as directed and maintain all documentation for this purposes
- Perform calibration checks per schedule
- Detection of opportunities for improvement in the process areas
- Monitor, verify and validate the procedures in the production lines
- Inform and verify the timely correction of the deviations detected in the production process
- Conduct food safety inspections
- Responsible for completing accurately and archive required quality documentation
- Verify the proper handling of allergens in the production process
- Initiate corrective action reports for sanitation non-conformances and communicate to relevant staff properly and timely
- Participate in cross-functional teams within the facility to develop basic preventive and corrective action plans for improving the quality of products produced
- Interacts with all plant personnel to improve the quality of products produced
- Fosters a positive working environment among diverse team members
- Assist bakers with production of new products or when schedule falls behind
- Other duties with similar skill, work conditions, and responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High School degree, diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institutionTwo to three years of experience in a similar roleExperience course work in food science, QM or other sciencesKnowledge of standard equipment / usage, regulatory standards and food manufacturing practicesCertification on SQF FundamentalsCertification on quality systems and HACCPExperience maintaining / using quality management systemsMust be able to work in Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to work in a team environment with a professional and optimistic attitudeAbility to organize, motivate and coach employees on desired outcomesAble to work independently with limited supervision.
