Purpose :
The Regional Extension Educator II will assist program administrators and provide educational resources and assistance to a wide variety of extension educators and clientele. This position will implement program initiatives for family and community constituents within Extension programs based on regional needs and input from partners and other stakeholders in Jackson, Platt, and Clay counties and surrounding areas. The successful candidate is expected to work closely with the Extension team to satisfy the goals and expectations of projects. Areas of emphasis are human, family, and community development, entrepreneurship, urban agriculture, economic education, community engagement, and intergenerational programming.
Essential Job Functions :
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Outreach and education to families, individuals, and communities in the areas of human development and consumer sciences.
- Assists the coordinator, state specialists, staff, and volunteers with Extension projects.
- Assists with maintaining accurate and timely records related to Extension projects.
- Acts as a liaison with the Innovation Small Farm Outreach Program (ISFOP) team and community partners in agriculture and economics.
- Assists with collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data.
- Prepare Plan of Work, monthly and annual reports.
- Make presentations at conferences and other groups within the community.
- Independently performs most assignments within instructions as to the general results expected; receives guidance on usual or complex problems.
- Assists with guiding, leading, and training staff, students, employees, interns, and / or volunteers performing related work; may participate in the recruitment of volunteers, as appropriate to the area of programming.
- Secures extramural funds and develops grant proposals.
- Must be willing to develop and implement classes / workshops to be delivered through distance technologies and delivered on virtual platforms.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by Extension Administrators.
- Develop and assist with programs, especially for senior citizens, to address the Artificial Intelligence and technological divide and other media.
- Assist the Regional Coordinator in increasing program expansion and strengthening the infrastructure of the office.
- Assist in delivering, organizing, and coordinating conferences, meetings, and events.
- Assist in teaching classes, workshops, and / or demonstrations, including social justice, health, and wellness.
- Prepare posters and presentations for meetings.
- Collaborate on the development and dissemination of new information to families, community, partners, and collaborators.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities :
May include supervisory responsibilities of the advisory board volunteers, students, and program participants.Other duties as assigned by the Regional Coordinator and Cooperative Extension Administrators.May require working on weekends and evenings.May require traveling within the region around and outside of the state of Missouri.Develop and assist with 4-H, summer programs, including AgDiscovery.Minimum Qualifications :
The candidate must have a master's degree in a field related to social work, human, family, and community development or consumer sciences.At least 3 years of experience addressing the needs of and working with low-income, ethnically adverse, underserved audiences from marginalized communities in informal group settings.Preferred Qualifications - Additional Desirable Qualifications :
Must have a valid driver's license and CDL.Previous experience working with data and reporting.Documented success in securing extramural funding.Experience developing and conducting educational sessions via distance learning and on virtual platforms.Documented ability to use social media as a tool for promotion, engagement, and education.Certifications, Licenses, and Registration :
