Overview
Director of Engineering, AV / Broadcast Media - North West role at Diversified. This position leads the engineering associates within the Media / WKP Business Unit, reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering. The role focuses on development, resourcing, implementation, and continuous improvement of the territory’s project engineering team, with a thorough understanding of construction, systems integration, IT engineering, and architectural / engineering drawings and specifications.
What You’ll Do
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Lead the project engineering lifecycle across all project phases : requirements gathering, conceptual and detailed designs, fabrication, testing, commissioning, training, and support.
- Serve as the point of escalation for project engineering; motivate and direct the team to meet client goals in an expedited manner.
- Collaborate with sales and BU leadership to ensure engineering has the skills required to fulfill projects and delight customers.
- Recruit, hire, and train resources to meet project needs.
- Empower engineering associates to own client interactions and deliverables.
- Contribute to engineering standards and processes; implement them with engineering teams and PMO to guarantee client satisfaction and profitable projects.
- Govern standards through project audits to ensure consistency of work product.
- Drive efficiency, innovation, and technology; develop standards to ensure quality.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire associates; manage multi-project delivery including large-scale technology projects.
- Visit clients and sites, build relationships, and gather feedback to enhance project fulfillment.
- Ensure career pathing and training opportunities for associates.
- Break down silos and promote an inclusive, one-company mindset.
- Facilitate resource sharing across territories and business units; ensure cross-training in necessary systems and tools.
- Manage resource assignments and load balancing; coordinate with resource planning / PMO to meet deadlines.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure adherence to defined processes.
- Directly manage the regional project engineering team; oversee engineering quality and profitability of the regional project portfolio (solutions, configuration, commissioning, training).
- Align with BU Innovation and Sales Engineering on products, solutions, and services; solicit and provide feedback regularly.
- Track performance to drive utilization, efficiency, quality, savings, and profit; support project managers with value engineering and scope changes.
- Translate the company mission and vision into engineering deliverables.
- Coordinate weekly meetings, workshops, and team-building events including manufacturers and vendors.
Complexity
Directly manages individual contributors, including Associate Design Engineers, Design Engineers, Senior Design Engineers, and Solutions Architects.Responsible for a regional organization of 20+ associates supporting Media / WKP.Oversees engineering solutions, design documentation, configuration, commissioning, and training; ensures engineering quality and profitability of the portfolio within the region.What You’ll Bring

Extensive experience in Media / WKP systems integrationKnowledge of SMPTE 2110, IP Routing, Cloud Production, and other Media / WKP technologiesExperience with Agile and Scrum methodologies10+ years of construction engineering experienceConstruction experience in media / WKP and system integrationExperience leading larger teamsResidency in or willingness to relocate to the US-Northwest regionPreferred Skills / Qualifications
