Job Description
The X-Ray Technologist will be responsible for providing high-quality radiographic imaging while ensuring patient safety and comfort. This role requires immediate response to on-call shifts, necessitating the ability to report within 30 minutes.
Responsibilities
Verify patients' identity and review physician's orders before starting x-ray procedures.
Utilize x-ray equipment to produce diagnostic images of patients' bones, tissues, and organs.
Explain x-ray procedures to patients and respond to their questions.
Position patients properly, which may involve assisting those with limited mobility.
Observe each patient's status, ensuring the information collected meets age-specific needs.
Maintain and operate all radiologic equipment safely, minimizing patient exposure to radiation.
Promptly report any damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment to management.
Utilize electronic patient information systems to confirm patient details and exam accuracy.
Practice the Dual Patient Identifier procedure for patient safety.
Maintain accurate record keeping and ensure images are appropriately filed in the PACS system.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
Completion of formal training in an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
NYS license or eligibility to obtain prior to starting.
A minimum of two years of X-ray Technologist experience, including Level 1 trauma center experience.
Current BLS certification (American Heart Association only).
Experience using c-arm / o-arm within the past 8 months.
Ability to move or lift patients and stand for extended periods.
Effective communication skills and a compassionate demeanor.
