Lead Construction Manager

We are seeking a Lead Construction Manager within our Enterprise Operations organization that focuses on our Overpull Segment of our Fiber Builds here at Lumen. They will be responsible for all aspects of completing the delivery of new telecommunications networks in one or more locations. Their primary objectives will include the application of advanced engineering and network principles, theories, concepts and technologies to solve unusually complex problems and issues. This role will be primarily involved with construction of fiber optic networks, the physical assets, not software or hardware related.
This role has been designated as fully remote, candidates must be within the United States.
The main responsibilities include :
- Regarded as subject matter expert in fiber optic construction and splicing activities.
- Responsibility for all aspects of a project or program once initiated. This will include project estimating, financial tracking, contractor / vendor management and status tracking / updating to management levels.
- Coordinates with internal groups to ensure the project stays on track and identifies and removes roadblocks to successful project completion.
- Interaction with external contacts is often required, such as permitting agencies and right-of-way owners.
- Leads the development, evaluation and implementation of new and innovative principles, processes and applications that will help the project be successful.
- Exercises considerable latitude in decision-making under limited consultative direction toward predetermined long-range targets.
- Acts as a primary consultant to leadership detailing the technical requirements and specifications necessary to obtain solutions.
- Will act as a technical project leader or provide work leadership for lower-level employees.
- Requires limited direction and guidance with most tasks.
What we look for in a candidate :
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or Telecom or related education background.Ideally 8+ years of experience.Positive interpersonal and communication skills.Experience in strategic customer relationship management.Strong general business acumen.Exceptional organizational, prioritization and written / verbal communication skills.Proven creative problem solver.Proven results in building strong peer level relationships-coordination and alignment with the managers who will ultimately operate the network is considered imperative to overall success of these projects.Strong computer skills with emphasis using Microsoft Word, Excel and Project as well as a variety of mapping programs.Positive and professional attitude.Personal experience estimating, engineering, permitting and constructing OSP Projects.A knowledge base full of OSP Engineering standards and practices.Firsthand experience in OSP operations, administration, and maintenance.Fiber Network Management Principles and Practices (e.g. route planning, fiber assignments, capacity management, fiber @types, splicing requirements, testing requirements, and power requirements).Compensation :
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
Location Based Pay Ranges :
$103,711 - $138,281 in these states : AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.
$108,896 - $145,195 in these states : CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.
$114,082 - $152,109 in these states : AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
