Position Details

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Lipscomb University is seeking qualified candidates for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, beginning August 2025. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a closely related field, with at least three years of ECE work experience (industry or research) and demonstrated undergraduate teaching ability. Ideal candidates will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, a commitment to mentoring students, and a passion for fostering a collaborative academic environment. Experience teaching microprocessors and embedded systems is preferred. We value individuals dedicated to inspiring students and supporting their growth into ethical and accomplished engineers. Experience in multicultural STEM outreach is also desirable.

Primary Responsibilities

• Teaching undergraduate courses in topics such as digital logic, circuits, signals and systems, semiconductors, power, microprocessors, embedded systems, digital signal processing, digital processor design, and instrumentation and controls.
• Maintaining a 24-credit hour annual teaching load, with potential for reduced load through funded research or administrative duties.
• Mentoring and advising students, participating in professional development, research, consulting, and curriculum development.
• Contributing to service activities within the department, university, and broader academic community.

Expectations

Candidates should possess knowledge of principles, methods, and current developments in their discipline and professional practice. They should be capable of creating syllabi, delivering course objectives effectively, and identifying areas for curriculum improvement. Candidates should also be able to advise and motivate students, communicate effectively, and incorporate technology into teaching. Professional interaction with students, colleagues, and the public is essential.

Successful candidates will hold a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of three years of relevant work experience and demonstrated teaching ability at the undergraduate level.
