Help facilitate feedback loops between data insights and operational decision-making. Identify opportunities to streamline fleet tracking and reporting processes. Contribute to automation and data integrity initiatives within the Equipment Distribution team. Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Analytics, Transportation, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI; familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools is a plus. Ability to interpret data and communicate insights clearly to diverse audiences. Strong organizational and time management skills. Effective communication and collaboration skills. Fleet Strategy Exposure : Learn how fleet planning impacts transportation efficiency and customer service. Data-Driven Decision Making : Gain experience using Power BI and other tools to drive operational insights. Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work with teams across operations, planning, and analytics. Transportation Industry Knowledge : Build a foundational understanding of railcar distribution and logistics.

About the Role :
Norfolk Southern is seeking a proactive and analytical Fleet Planning & Data Intern to join our Equipment Distribution team for Spring 2026. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in fleet strategy, data-driven decision-making, and stakeholder engagement within the transportation industry.
You'll support efforts to enhance fleet productivity, monitor performance trends, and help build a more proactive approach to managing railcar distribution across our network.

- Assist in defining and categorizing fleet types in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Support the development of proactive monitoring tools to track fleet utilization and productivity.
