Compass Health Network has a great opportunity for a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at our inpatient / outpatient substance use treatment facility. Individuals within this role will oversee clients’ safety and well-being, using Compass Champion Behavior. These individuals must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
This is a full-time, benefit eligible position, working 40 hours weekly. This is a float position that covers the Western Region. This candidate will be required to float to different office locations with varying schedules.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – JOB SPECIFIC :
Reports and records observable changes in resident behavior, attitude and physical conditionWill provide a safe and secure environment for therapeutic growth of clients through safety and oversight of program and facility groundsAssists with or participates in re-motivation, rehabilitation, resocialization, and behavior modification programsTeaches or assists residents in self-help skills and social behavior based on the level of need and functioning of individual residentsInitiates and participates in group and / or individual activities with residentsEscorts residents to appointments or as assignedParticipates in specialized programs such as adjunctive therapies and individual interaction with residentsPerforms basic nursing care such as checking vital signs, applying simple dressings, and providing general daily care of residentsAssists a physician or registered professional nurse with various diagnostic and treatment proceduresMaintains a safe, clean, and therapeutic environmentAssists in the orientation of new residentsResponds to emergency situations as specified by the guidelines of the unit, including assisting residents during emergency situationsPrepares and maintains records and reportsMaintains adequate supplies and equipmentAdministers medications to clients once certified as a DMH Level 1 Medication Aide (excludes Clustered Apartments)Obtain CPR certification with in the first 90 days of employmentAssist client with transportation as clinically indicated. Driving is an essential function of the positionCompletes documentation and paperwork within the required timeframeProvide individuals assistance to consumers in accessing a variety of public services including financial and housing, including assistance on an emergency basis and directly helping to meet needs for food, shelter and clothingAssist consumers to access and utilize a variety of community agencies and resources to provide ongoing social, educational, vocational and recreational supports and activitiesRequires travel to other offices in assigned region (float only)Other duties as assigned
