La Paz County Accountant

La Paz County is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our Finance Department. Under the supervision of the Administrative and Fiscal Services Director, this position is responsible for the professional management of the County's financial and budgetary activities, ensuring compliance with county, state, federal, and grant regulations.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to build hands-on experience in governmental finance, collaborate with a supportive team, and make a meaningful impact through public service.

Key responsibilities include :

• Manage and reconcile complex governmental chart of accounts across multiple funds.
• Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile transactions; resolve discrepancies in revenues, expenditures, payroll, accruals, and cost allocations.
• Monitor and analyze grant accounting activities, ensuring compliance with GASB revenue recognition standards.
• Prepare and review monthly financial reports, journal entries, reconciliations, and cost analyses.
• Support budget development, monitoring, and forecasting.
• Assist with fiscal year-end closing, audits, and preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
• Collaborate with county departments to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
