GRADE LEVEL : Hiring for both middle school and high school positions START : First day of new staff training at the end of July. You can view the current School Year Calendar . THE ROLE Our ELD Teachers will play a critical role in advancing Multilingual learners' (MLLs) knowledge and use of English in increasingly sophisticated ways, especially focused on the successful use of academic language necessary to accelerate their learning. The primary service delivery model for English Language Development instruction at DSST is a Co-Taught model. Depending on campus, the ELD instructional model may differ, but typically includes : Middle School : Pull out courses, differentiated by emerging, intermediate, and advanced language proficiencies, that emphasize the functional and communicative language approaches Co-taught and integrated ELD / Social Studies or Co-taught and integrated ELD / Writing in which content is the vehicle for direct language instructionHigh School : Co-taught and integrated ELD / Composition in which content is the vehicle for direct language instruction; and / or Pull out courses for emerging and low intermediate proficiencies that emphasize the functional and communicative language approachesWe will inquire about your grade level and campus specific preference at the time of interview. Key Responsibilities : Deliver Rigorous & Engaging Content : Utilize DSST's curriculum resources to plan / co-plan, intellectually prepare, and teach / co-teach rigorous grade level aligned content to 3-5 classes daily depending on campus and content area. DSST prioritizes curriculum that centers the cultures and histories of underrepresented and marginalized communities. Track and Support Student Growth : Prioritize students' intellectual growth by holding high expectations for academic success including monitoring and assessing the performance of all students through a variety of assessment tools and resources to guide instruction and support individual student proficiency. Promote Positive Culture : Employ DSST culture and support systems while validating students' cultural identities. Actively promote a unified and positive classroom and school culture. Cultivate and maintain trusting relationships with students and families. Pursue Professional Development : Engage in professional growth opportunities, including regular coaching, feedback, and development, with a focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Contribute to School Community : Undertake additional duties as needed, such as supporting student recruitment, running a small group advisory class, after school tutoring, etc. . A Colorado teaching credential is preferred but not required for most opportunities. POSITION English Language Development ( ELD) Teacher LOCATION : Hiring at multiple locations. SALARY : $58,000-$80,000 based on aligned years of experience up to 10 years. We also offer a for anyone joining us from 75 miles or more from Denver! In addition, (while it is not required) if you hold any active teaching license (including out of state) with a Culturally Linguistically Diverse Educator, English Language Learner Professional Endorsement, active certification in TEFL / TESOL / CELTA, or similar certification, your base salary will increase by $2,000.
