English Language Development Teacher - Middle School at Rocky Mountain Prep, Green Valley Ranch Campus. Rocky Mountain Prep is a network of charter schools in the Denver metro area focused on college preparation and equitable access for historically marginalized students.
Role mission : Support Multilingual Language Learners (MLLs) in developing English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills through culturally responsive practices and the E.L. Achieve curriculum. Collaborate with the middle school team to ensure equitable access to rigorous, supportive instruction.
Responsibilities
- Own student outcomes by setting high expectations, using data to guide instruction, maximizing instructional time, re-teaching when needed, and promoting scholar growth.
- Engage in ongoing professional growth through coaching, feedback, and continuous improvement.
- Be punctual and prepared for lessons, coaching sessions, staff meetings, and professional obligations (PD, parent-teacher conferences, etc.).
- Foster an inclusive, culturally responsive classroom culture that supports belonging and high expectations for multilingual learners.
- Maintain strong family partnerships through regular communication and engagement in school events.
- Model Rocky Mountain Prep values (Perseverance, Excellence, Adventure, Kindness) in all interactions.
- Collaborate with colleagues, special education teachers, and support staff to deliver grade-level content and targeted interventions.
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives, professional development, and recruitment efforts as part of a high-performing team.
- Support school operations as needed (arrival, dismissal, lunch, etc.) to maintain a safe learning environment.
- Contribute to a fast-paced, data-driven school culture with flexibility to adapt to evolving needs.
Responsibilities – Specific to ELD
Deliver rigorous, inclusive instruction in speaking, reading, writing, and listening using the E.L. Achieve curriculum with linguistic supports for access to learning.Manage a culturally responsive classroom where students feel safe expressing themselves and pursuing ambitious goals.Differentiate lessons for varying English proficiency levels; typical class sizes range from 15–25 students.Use data to track progress (e.g., quarterly assessments) and adjust instruction accordingly using platforms like Illuminate.Establish strong classroom management and active student engagement strategies.Demonstrate ongoing professional growth in ELD strategies and best practices for supporting English learners.Education and Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree (any subject) required or preferred depending on role.Other Requirements
Complete CDE READ Act training or CDE Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) - 45 contact hours within the first year.Pass a background check.Demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States.Preferred certifications as applicable; E-Verify is used for employment eligibility.Compensation and Benefits
