Mechanical Design Engineer Staff

Overview

You will be the Hardware Engineering Lead - ATWS Program for the Advanced Tactical Weapon Systems (ATWS) team. Our team drives the development, integration, and sustainment of cutting edge Electro Optical / Infrared (EO IR) systems, delivering high performance hardware that powers next generation platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for EO IR hardware, from initial requirements through design, test, and long-term sustainment.
• Direct a multidisciplinary group of engineers, balancing technical excellence with budget and schedule constraints across multiple concurrent programs.
• Lead the hardware design and analysis team, setting technical direction and performance targets.
• Define and refine system requirements, translating them into detailed hardware specifications.
• Conduct design reviews, trade studies, and technical analyses to validate concepts and mitigate risk.
• Oversee prototype and production testing at the system and sub-assembly level, capturing data for continuous improvement.
• Manage non-conformance MRB disposition, driving corrective actions and root cause resolution.
• Coordinate with external suppliers and internal stakeholders to align schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Prepare and present internal and external design / programmatic review materials to senior leadership and customers.
• Monitor program budgets and schedules, report status, and forecast resource needs.
• Mentor engineers and foster a collaborative culture that encourages innovation and knowledge sharing.
• Support multiple fast-paced programs to achieve strategic ATWS objectives.
