Title : Tax Manager
Location : Chicago, IL - Hybrid
Position Overview :
An exciting opportunity to join a growing and collaborative tax team within a global financial services organization. The U.S. Tax function is responsible for ensuring compliance with U.S. tax regulations while maintaining a strategic focus on both domestic and international tax considerations. The team oversees a broad range of activities including compliance, audits, tax projects, and strategic initiatives. This role reports directly to the Head of U.S. Tax and offers strong visibility across the business.
Key Responsibilities :
- Prepare and review various tax filings, including U.S. income tax returns, informational reporting, excise tax filings, and head office reporting
- Manage the full lifecycle of 1099 and 1042 processes, including tax withholding, information return filings, and form review during onboarding (e.g., W-8 / W-9)
- Serve as a key liaison with external advisors, auditors, and regulatory bodies, and collaborate with internal cross-functional and global teams
- Prepare and review monthly income tax provisions under ASC 740, ensuring compliance with both local (U.S. GAAP) and head office (IFRS) standards
- Contribute to the development and documentation of tax policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Partner with the Head of U.S. Tax to drive tax planning and strategic initiatives aligned with broader financial goals
- Support tax-related aspects of business initiatives including restructures, new products, and regulatory changes through research, modeling, and analysis
- Lead or contribute to process automation and operational improvement projects
- Perform other tax-related responsibilities as needed
Qualifications :
7+ years of U.S. tax experience within a public accounting firm or financial services institutionBachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA strongly preferred; MST or MBA a plusStrong attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality, accurate workExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesCollaborative team player with the ability to take initiative and own deliverablesProficient in tax research and interpretation of U.S. tax code and regulationsStrong organizational and time management skills with a proactive attitude
