The primary purpose of this position is : To serve as the Headquarters United States Central Command (HQ USCENTCOM) Community and Family Readiness Program Coordinator to plan, manage, lead, and direct a wide range of community programs, services and activities to improve unit cohesion, resiliency, lethality, and readiness for Total Force.

Help

  • Plans, develops, markets, and executes diversified, innovative, needs-based social, cultural, USCENTCOM- wide special events, community programs and unit cohesion activities to support authorized users of MacDill and HQ USCENTCOM facilities and programs.
  • Develops plans and coordinates with other agencies to execute programs, community activities, special events, and networked plans to maximize resources.
  • Writes professional proposals for use in attracting and establishing mutually beneficial cooperative agreements with community and installation partners.
  • Plans, establishes, conducts and maintains HQ USCENTCOM Staff and Family Readiness Coordinators Training and Management tasks.

  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
  • Experience with supportive and recreational programs highly desirable.
  • The employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret, non-critical sensitive security clearance.
  • A break in service of 3 or more calendar days may be required for permanent federal internal and transfer employees.
  • This is term position NTE 13 months.
  • Limited area of consideration to Department-Wide (DoD) Candidate only. Applicants must be a current DoD employee to be eligible.
  • Qualifications

    In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes (1) working with business operations policies, procedures, methods, and publicity techniques within one or more of the following areas : military recreation; morale, welfare, and recreation business operations; and / or community wide event planning to evaluate strengths or weaknesses and develop / revise programs to meet goals and promote patronage; (2) working with a wide range of methods and techniques for planning and administering recreational programs; (3) performing analytical and evaluative techniques and methods (and the ability to adapt as appropriate) to analyze reports, gather data, review suggestions, and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the family programs and make recommendations for program improvement.

    EDUCATION : Successfully completed a Ph.D or equivalent graduate degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. NOTE : You must submit copies of your college transcripts.

    OR

    COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION : I have a combination of specialized experience and education. A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE : You must submit a copy of transcripts.

    FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS : Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs) : Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and / or competencies in the following areas :

  • Knowledge of business operations policies, procedures, methods, and publicity techniques within one or more of the following areas : military recreation; morale, welfare, and recreation business operations; and / or community wide event planning to evaluate strengths or weaknesses and develop / revise programs to meet goals and promote patronage.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply the various methods, techniques and procedures for publicizing programs and activities through all available media and social media (TV, radio, newspapers, flyers / brochures, Facebook).
  • Skills in developing, implementing and managing a wide range of recreational and support programs, services and community activities.
  • Skill in preparing and presenting initial training, briefings and presentations; ability to develop course material for briefings and training materials for a variety of audiences and possess skill in dealing with customers and the public.
  • Ability to plan, conducts and analyzes simple survey techniques and understands, interprets, evaluates and presents data.
  • Ability to manage a small staff and carry out all phases of personnel management responsibilities
  • PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE : Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

    VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE : Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
