Job Summary

Provides classroom training and student assessment in Residential and Commercial Electrical Construction courses. Assists in planning, developing, training and evaluation of outcome-based curriculum in a construction electrical program. This includes electrical fundamentals, electrical equipment, installation and termination practices per current electrical codes, use and interpretation of construction drawings, applicable codes, and construction safety. Regularly engages in student direct instruction, assessment, course registration, student orientation, and other related duties. Responsible for maintaining accurate student records, required forms and documents, and engaging in regular review of student progress data. Position will be located and instruction occurring at Perryville Prison, 2015 N. Citrus Rd., Goodyear, AZ 85395.

Essential Functions

70% - Provides student assessment and classroom training in construction electrician courses to incarcerated students; courses include construction safety, basic math, introduction to hand tools, introduction to print reading, basic rigging, electrical code, electrical equipment, installation practices, conduit bending, and related electrical construction topics

10% - Assists in planning, developing and implementing outcome-based construction electrical courses

10% - Develops written syllabi / course outlines (with guidance), and performs student evaluation when required

10% - Assists in evaluation and selection of instructional materials appropriate to courses and environment; Performs other duties as directed to meet Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC) contract requirements

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and five years of experience in area of assignment. Some assignments may require an Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree or higher depending on field of instruction.

There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED.

Desired Qualifications

A. Teaching, training, or supervisory experience in the construction-carpentry trades / field

B. Experience developing instructional content for electricians

C. Experience with at-risk, under-served, or incarcerated persons

D. Experience training or working with adults in transition, re-entry, or re-training

E. Ability to obtain Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC) clearance, which may include but not limited to : fingerprinting, extensive background check, psychological, drug and tuberculosis (TB) testing

Special Working Conditions

This position teaches onsite in a prison and involves daily contact with inmates in a secure location. Travel to campus during interview / selection process will be at candidate's own expense. Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations. May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen. Will be required to obtain an Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry (ADCRR) clearance. Process may involve personally invasive questionnaire, and extensive background check.

Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License is required; employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving :
