The ZS Legal Team reviews contracts, advises the firm on matters of legal consequence, and proactively assesses and manages the firm’s risk exposure. The legal team is responsible for staying abreast of legal developments impacting the firm on a global basis and then advising the firm based on the changing legal landscape.

As we continue to grow our firm, we are currently looking for an Associate Counsel with experience in employment law matters to join our Chicago – Merchadise Mart office. Our legal team reviews contracts, advises the firm on matters of legal consequence, and proactively assesses and manages the firm’s risk exposure. The legal team is responsible for staying abreast of legal developments impacting the firm on a global basis and then advising the firm based on the changing legal landscape.

What you'll do :

• Prepare review, revise and negotiate legal documents to ensure the firm’s obligations are compatible with management’s philosophy;
• Respond to issues as they arise in diverse matters affecting day-to-day business operations by assisting, advising, investigating, researching and resolving legal matters;
• Assist HR with employee issues;
• Participate in and influence the decision-making process with appropriate stakeholders;
• Respond to and counsel internal stakeholders on employment risks related to specific work issues / scenarios as they arise and which may affect day-to-day business operations by assisting, advising, investigating, researching and resolving legal matters;
• Stay abreast of legal developments and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and policies;
• Draft, review, revise and negotiate legal agreements;
• Protect the firm in all business relationships;
• Ensure the firm’s compliance with legal policies, state and federal laws, and regulations;
• Identify potential legal issues and elevate them as needed; and
• Establish and maintain relationships, credibility and trust with stakeholders, legal team members and other colleagues.

Travel is a requirement at ZS for client facing ZSers; business needs of your project and client are the priority. While some projects may be local, all client-facing ZSers should be prepared to travel as needed.
