Medical Director, PM&R Outpatient Rehabilitation – Brown Academic Appointment

Brown University Health has an opening for an experienced board-certified physiatrist with an interest in neurorehabilitation to join our growing, academically oriented Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department. Our outpatient locations are in Providence and Newport, RI.

About the job :

• Serve as the medical supervisor of outpatient rehabilitation services
• Time is split roughly 25% administrative, 75% clinical
• Provide direct patient care as well as management of the multi-site outpatient PM&R team
• Partner with the Chief of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Senior Vice President of Brown University Health, and outpatient PM&R staff physicians to set goals and priorities for program development
• Work primarily with general, musculoskeletal, and neurorehabilitation services
• Provide care on a lifelong basis, including related medical, physical, psychological, and vocational disabilities and complications
• Champion the transdisciplinary approach, providing evidence-based and goal-directed care across all environments
• Onsite dedicated therapists (PT, OT, SLP, Audiology and Aquatic)
• Partner with education, social, and community services
• Guided Ultrasound for office-based procedures
• Weekend Call for the acute inpatient rehabilitation unit (IRU) is 1 : 7 week
• Brown Academic appointment in the Department of Neurology

The Department of PM&R includes multiple outpatient clinics, with a focus on neurorehabilitation, including concussion / TBI, spinal cord injury, and spasticity management. We also manage general rehabilitation patients with musculoskeletal needs, prosthetics and orthotics, wheelchair management, and oncological rehabilitation.
