Attorney with 5+ years of experience at a leading law firm or financial institution working on credit card related matters to join a premier financial services client in a temporary role. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with the client's credit card business team and with colleagues throughout the firm's legal, compliance, marketing, credit, and technology functions to develop and maintain all aspects of the firm's credit card offering.
Responsibilities include :
- Advise business partners on laws and regulations relating to credit cards
- Develop, review and manage credit card agreements and associated disclosures
- Work on credit card related initiatives and interact with counsel at credit card partners
- Monitor state and federal consumer finance developments with a primary focus on regulations, consent orders and other regulatory issues pertaining to marketing, borrower agreements and communications including prohibitions against Unfair, Deceptive and Abusive Acts or Practices
- Monitor legal developments and maintain industry knowledge relating to credit cards
- Engage with other lines of business to ensure best practices are followed across multiple product lines
Basic Qualifications :
Knowledge of and experience with federal, state and local laws and regulations relating to credit card products including those relating to marketing, fair lending, payments, legal disclosures as well as prohibitions against Unfair, Deceptive and Abusive Acts or PracticesKnowledge of federal laws should include an in-depth understanding of the Truth in Lending Act (Regulation Z), the Electronic Funds Transfer Act (Regulation E), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (Regulation V) and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (Regulation B)Experience drafting credit card agreements and change in terms noticesTeam player with inherent commercial judgment and strong analytical and organizational skillsStrong oral and written communications skillsHigh level of initiative, integrity, and organization
