The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the operation, maintenance, and management of the Kentucky Municipal Energy Agency ("KYMEA") Energy Center I (the "Facility") in Madisonville, Kentucky. The Plant Manager will be required to manage a range of activities associated with the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the Facility. Responsibilities and expectations include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Safety & Security : Oversee facility safety programs, training, hazard mitigation, and gas pipeline security.
- Environmental & Regulatory Compliance : Ensure adherence to environmental permits, NERC CIP standards, and federal / state / local regulations.
- Supervision & Management : Lead a team of engineers, operators, and O&M technicians; manage staffing, training, performance, and succession planning.
- Budgeting & Financial Oversight : Develop and manage capital, inventory, and O&M budgets; oversee asset and inventory management systems.
- Operations & Maintenance : Direct daily plant operations, including engine start / stop procedures, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
- Emergency Response : Lead outage recovery, pipeline disruption response, and emergency drills in coordination with KYMEA, LGE-KU, and local response teams.
- Communication : Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Leadership & Collaboration : Proven leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate at all levels.
- Ability to coordinate and collaborate with various personnel and technical groups (including Facility employees and contractors, and other KYMEA management and personnel).
- Ability to read and comprehend technical documents, specifications, and drawings.
- Ability to read and comprehend process and control drawings, electrical one-line diagrams, and other relevant diagrams.
- Ability to plan, delegate, direct, and review the work of Facility personnel and other contractors.
- Proficiency with customary computer programs, including database software, word processing software, spreadsheet software, inventory software, work order processing software, project management software, and other applicable asset management systems and software.
Education and Experience
A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering or related field and experience in utility-scale electrical power plant or large-scale industrial facility or a two (2)-year technical degree and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in utility-scale electric power plant or large-scale industrial facility operations and maintenance.Management experience specific to operations and maintenance of reciprocating internal combustion engines for electric power preferred.Significant knowledge of applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance regulations and requirements.Experience with development, implementation, and documentation of Facility financial policies and procedures.Employee supervision and professional development training experience are desirable.Certifications / Licenses / Registrations :
