Position Overview :
This position serves as an Owner's Representative responsible for ensuring compliance with organizational Health & Safety (H&S) standards, as well as federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. The role requires performing technical H&S work, monitoring field activities, and guiding contractors, vendors, and project teams to maintain a safe work environment. The individual will operate under general supervision with a high degree of self-direction.
Key Responsibilities :
- Monitor and observe work activities, providing technical direction and interventions to prevent H&S incidents and hazards.
- Recommend improvements to processes, design, procedures, and equipment to minimize hazard potential.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of governmental regulations and internal H&S requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to less experienced personnel on environmental, health, and safety programs.
- Assist work teams and vendors in resolving compliance deficiencies and contractual H&S concerns.
- Ensure safe work environments through routine field observations of at-risk behaviors, unsafe conditions, and environmental hazards.
- Collaborate with site H&S professionals, contractor representatives, and project managers to correct deficiencies.
- Participate in pre-job briefings, project / outage meetings, and other required safety discussions.
- Conduct incident trend analysis and develop improvement initiatives.
- Enforce and communicate safety initiatives to project and outage teams.
- Perform site safety inspections, including environmental compliance checks (e.g., container labeling, spill prevention, hazardous materials).
- Participate in incident investigations and support contractor training, including orientations and H&S topics.
- Document unsafe and safe behaviors, reporting findings to contracting firm management, site EHS contacts, and project managers.
- Generate Nuclear Condition Reports for identified H&S / EHS issues and corrective actions.
- Immediately notify leadership of potential asbestos, lead-containing material, or other significant hazards.
- Provide regular updates on H&S issues and participate in continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications :
Experience : 10+ years of professional experience in Health & Safety disciplines.Strong knowledge of OSHA, federal / state / local regulations, and environmental compliance standards.Proven ability to lead H&S initiatives on large-scale projects and outages.Effective communication skills with ability to collaborate across contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.Experience conducting field safety inspections, incident investigations, and trend analysis.Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and tenaciously resolve compliance concerns.Preferred Skills :
Nuclear industry or utility project experience strongly preferred.Familiarity with contractor / vendor management in project or outage environments.Technical expertise in environmental hazard recognition and reporting.Strong training and facilitation skills for H&S topics.Company Description
