Responsibilities Work on a Medical Surgical-Neuro unit within a short term acute care hospital Patient population includes general neurological and neuromuscular disorders such as MS, ALS, GBS, stroke, epilepsy, infections, and tumors Nurse-to-patient ratios typically range from 1 : 4 to 1 : 5 Procedures include lumbar punctures, lumbar drains, IV starts, G-tubes, tracheostomies, Foley catheter management Bladder ultrasound is utilized in patient care Uses Epic EMR; previous Epic experience is preferred Shifts are 4x12 nights (19 : 00-07 : 30), every other weekend required No on-call responsibilities Floating may be required within the service line Care for a diverse neuro-med / surg population including complex neurological diagnoses and post-procedure management Every other weekend scheduled shifts are mandatory as per facility policy Clinical team expects ability to take charge and float as needed Scrub color is navy Orientation parking is $15 and not reimbursed; night shift parking is free in employee lot No more than 7 days of requested time off per 13-week contract; no RTO during first week First-time travelers are welcome to apply Travel assignments require residency outside a 75-mile radius from the facility Standard travelers may remain for up to 18 months with a 3 month break required thereafter Requirements Active MO or compact RN license required; pending license accepted Minimum of 2 years of general med / surg experience required Charge nurse experience required Certifications required : BLS, NIH Stroke Scale, IV start competency Epic charting experience preferred Must live at least 75 miles from facility; local candidates are not accepted Fit-testing compliance required; must be able to shave for testing Candidates who were former permanent employees must wait one year before returning as a traveler Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-624103.
