Below, you’ll find other important information about this position.The Student Visual Field Technician assists the physicians, technicians and other clinical staff in the appropriate delivery of patient care services by performing visual fields, ophthalmic imaging, patient rooming and initial visual workups.

• MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND / OR LICENSURE :
• 1. High school diploma or equivalent
• PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND / OR LICENSURE :
• 1. Enrollment at West Virginia University as a part-time or full-time student.
• CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
• The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Performs visual field testing, lensometry and keratometry on patients.2. Conducts and records formal and informal visual fields to include, confrontation, Amsler Grid, Goldmann Perimetry, Automated perimetry, and OCT.3. Interacts with and assist clinical staff and faculty.

Must be able to carry and move heavy objects in excess of forty pounds (event materials, meeting room set-up, technology, etc.).2. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.3. Must be able to lift, move, stoop, reach, and stand for long intervals.4. Vision correctable to at least 20 / 30 in one eye.
• WORKING ENVIRONMENT :
• The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Incumbent may be exposed to biohazards and communicable disease.2. Working in the presence of ophthalmic lasers frequently and may be required to wear protective eye equipment.3. May work with blood, lab specimens, and other patient bodily fluids that require universal precautions.
• SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
• 1. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-volume clinic.2. Ability to operate ophthalmic equipment and computers.3. Strong analytical skills to complete the technical aspects of patient examinations.
