Deseret News is hiring : Staff Accountant - Part Time - Deseret News in Salt Lake

The Staff Accountant is responsible for executing essential accounting tasks efficiently and accurately. This role involves handling data entry, invoice and payment processing, billing, journal entries, account reconciliation, and supporting various projects related to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and the General Ledger. You will collaborate closely with the Finance Manager and Senior Accountant to ensure smooth financial operations.

Work Schedule : This is a part‑time position up to 28 hours a week. We prefer candidates available for a hybrid work arrangement. However, for the right candidate, we are open to a primarily remote setup with occasional in‑office visits as needed. Work hours are flexible within the standard business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor the accounts payable and accounts receivable emails, ensuring timely responses and follow‑ups.
• Process and accurately code invoices into the accounts payable system.
• Apply customer payments to invoices within the accounts receivable system.
• Coordinate with customers and vendors to facilitate smooth incoming and outbound payments.
• Ensure compliance with company controls and procedures for all financial transactions.
• Collaborate effectively with the accounting team on daily operations and ad hoc projects.
• Support the sales team by coordinating collection efforts on overdue invoices.
• Work alongside department managers to ensure timely and accurate vendor payments.
