The Classroom Tech will assist in daily classroom activities, including supervision of patients. Responsibilities vary by age group and may include diapering, feeding, toileting assistance, and hand washing. The position also supports the Lead Teacher / ECDS in ensuring appropriate habilitation services across cognition, communication, social / emotional, motor, and adaptive skills, as well as reinforcing skills learned in occupational, physical, and speech therapy.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
- Adhere to policies and procedures outlined in the Arkids Pediatric Day Centers' Employee Handbook and Management and Medical Policies and Procedures Manuals.
- Familiar with requirements set by regulatory agencies such as Arkansas Minimum Licensing, Division of Provider Services & Quality Assurance (DPSQA), Arkansas Health Department, etc.
- Maintain visual supervision of patients at all times, ensuring appropriate adult-to-child ratios.
- Know the number of children in care at all times.
- Communicate in a pleasant, positive, and caring manner with patients, parents, and staff.
- Represent the program positively to parents, visitors, colleagues, and the public.
- Engage actively with patients to promote motor development during physical activities.
- Follow health and safety guidelines, including standard precautions and daily procedures.
- Create a positive emotional environment by respecting children and adults and showing willingness to help.
- Report health and safety concerns immediately to the appropriate staff.
- Respect the rights of patients and their families.
- Implement each patient's Individualized Treatment Plan and assist with developing goals / objectives.
- Review lesson plans with the Lead Teacher / ECDS in advance.
- Assist in completing and verifying Tally Sheets and billing in Aspyre.
- Supervise classroom planning and activities.
- Ensure proper sign-in / out procedures for children.
- Assist in providing outdoor play time and ensure safety measures are followed.
- Follow transition policies, including proper head counts and area sweeps.
- Use Conscious Discipline techniques with patients.
- Maintain open communication with families, staff, and external contacts.
- Participate in job-related meetings, parent conferences, and training.
- Create a clean, safe, and healthy learning environment.
- Perform housekeeping and janitorial duties as needed.
- Assist other classrooms when necessary and support staff during breaks.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent.CDA preferred but not required.One year of early childhood education experience preferred.Clear Criminal Record Check, Arkansas Child & Adult Maltreatment Checks, FBI clearance, including National Sex Offender Registry.Pass a drug screening (upon offer, annually, or randomly).Abilities Required
