Internal Controls Manager
We are seeking an experienced Internal Controls Manager to lead and manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of robust internal control frameworks for our global operations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of risk management frameworks, enterprise risk management (ERM), compliance, and regulatory requirements specific to the Life and Annuities industries. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills, capable of driving continuous improvement in internal controls, risk management, and compliance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities :
- Internal Control Framework Development & Maintenance : Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the global internal control framework to ensure compliance with internal policies, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. Work closely with various business units to establish effective internal controls across all operations.
- Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) : Collaborate with senior management and risk teams to integrate ERM principles into the company's internal control processes.
- Compliance & Regulatory Oversight : Ensure the company's operations are compliant with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards. Work with oversee compliance audits and support regulatory reporting and assessments.
- Risk Assessments & Audits : Lead and coordinate risk assessments and audits to evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls. Identify and recommend improvements to mitigate risks related to financial, operational, and compliance activities.
- Reporting & Stakeholder Management : Prepare and present regular reports on the effectiveness of internal controls, risk mitigation strategies, and compliance status to senior management, the audit committee, and other stakeholders. Develop metrics to measure internal control performance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work with departments such as finance, legal, operations, IT, and compliance to ensure alignment and consistency in the implementation of internal controls and risk management practices. Provide guidance and training on risk and control-related matters.
- Training & Awareness : Develop and deliver training programs for employees at all levels of the organization on internal control processes, risk management frameworks, and compliance requirements. Foster a culture of risk awareness and responsibility across the company.
Qualifications & Skills :
Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field.Professional certifications such as CPA, CIA, CISA, are highly preferred.Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in risk management, internal controls, compliance, or audit within the life and annuities industries.Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, including COSO, ISO 31000, and industry-specific regulations and standards (e.g., Solvency II, IFRS 17).In-depth understanding of enterprise risk management (ERM) concepts and practices.Excellent knowledge of regulatory environments and compliance requirements in the insurance sector.Proven track record in designing, implementing, and monitoring effective internal controls programs.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and communicate with stakeholders at all levels.Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with competing priorities.Experience managing cross-functional teams and collaborating across departments.Location :
