Manufacturing Controls Engineer, Optimus
Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Controls Engineer to support new production line introductions with Castings, CNC, and Assembly processes. The successful candidate will have controls engineering experience in industrial automation, including PLC systems, industrial robotics, communications architecture, and databases. The candidate must be capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams and shop managers, with knowledge in CNC machining and assembly systems, and strong interpersonal, organizational, and management skills to act as an innovator and change agent.
What You'll Do
- Develop programming solutions for PLC and automated systems, utilizing and improving on existing standards
- Develop and improve robot paths for new projects and improvements
- Back up and maintain all equipment programs, instruct and manage supplier and equipment buyoffs
- Lead or assist on projects for installation and improvements to control systems for production equipment
- Support and assist maintenance team in troubleshooting difficult breakdowns and chronic equipment failures
- Act as shop liaison to IT department for MES (Manufacturing Execution System) development and implementation (product information tracking)
- Oversee maintenance, electrical and PLC projects, verify proper documentation
- Conduct risk assessments and implement findings
- HMI programming and system development
- Generate, develop electrical drawings. Buyoff on electrical drawings from contractors
What You'll Bring
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent relevant industry experience, with 2+ years of experience with industrial equipment controls, interfaces, and communication protocolsExperience with IDRA Die Cast Equipment is desiredProficient in PLC programming, troubleshooting, and configuration. Experience with various platforms, including Allen-Bradley or Siemens, is highly desirableFamiliar with HMI programming; preferred experience with IgnitionKnowledge in CAD is a plus, SolidWorks or CATIA preferred, ACAD experience in developing electrical schematicsExperience with robot programming, backup and restoration, especially FanucEffective time management and project management skillsExperience creating reports and database tools for managementExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenExperience in automotive manufacturing is highly desiredBenefits & Compensation
Expected Compensation : $72,000 - $151,200 annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on factors including location, knowledge, skills, and experience. Details of participation in benefit plans will be provided if an offer of employment is extended.
