The Environmental Engineer is a corporate staff position responsible for supporting and coordinating environmental compliance and sustainability efforts across multiple manufacturing plants. This role focuses on implementing environmental best practices, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a culture of environmental responsibility within manufacturing operations.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Position :
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations, permits, and standards.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies and participate in inspections as necessary.
- Develop and implement sustainability programs aimed at reducing environmental impact and promoting resource conservation.
- Identify opportunities for waste reduction, energy efficiency, and water conservation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute sustainability initiatives and track progress toward established goals.
- Establish and maintain an Environmental Management System (EMS) to monitor environmental aspects and impacts.
- Develop procedures and protocols for environmental monitoring, reporting, and incident response.
- Identify and assess environmental risks associated with manufacturing operations.
- Create and implement risk management strategies to mitigate environmental liabilities and prevent incidents.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, community members, and regulatory bodies.
- Communicate environmental performance and initiatives through reports, presentations, and meetings.
- Respond to inquiries and concerns related to environmental matters.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Education :
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field preferred.6-8 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience in Title V Air Permit reporting preferred.Experience with SWPPP, SPCC, NPDES and wastewater discharge implementation, permitting and reporting strongly preferred.Competencies :
Specialized depth and / or breadth of expertise in environmental engineering or a related discipline.Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, delegate effectively, and manage time efficiently.High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.Flexible and adaptable to change; capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.Demonstrates professionalism, sound judgment, maturity, and resourcefulness in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedures.Other Pertinent Job Information :
