Site : Roots Blower — 900 W Mount St., Connersville, IN 47331 (Union Facility)

Role Snapshot

As a Precision Fabrication Welder, you will execute certified welds and brazes, form precision components, and verify quality using NDT methods to keep our mission-critical products moving. Collective Bargaining Agreement language applies to this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Create certification samples per Roots specifications; meet all inspection criteria.
• Perform TIG / MIG / Stick welding, brazing, flame hardening, torch heating and cutting for both production and repair.
• Maintain required Roots brazing certifications; complete certified welds on facility items and equipment.
• Conduct fitting and weld-prep; run a hydraulic press to form centrifugal blades; fit / adjust / modify forming dies to achieve design tolerance.
• Position your work; grind and clean weldments; load / unload and operate the stress-relieving furnace.
• Verify acceptability of production components (impellers, etc.) and repair work through final inspection using liquid and dry Magnaflux and liquid penetrant.
• Use an electric pot to prepare and pour Babbitt pounders.
• Cut required shapes from plate / stock using plasma-arc handheld and shape-cutting units.
• Comply with Roots welding procedures; stamp or process-sheet sign off all certified production welds.
• Operate forklifts (gas / battery), battery transporters, and pendant / radio-controlled cranes; select proper rigging; charge batteries; exchange propane tanks.
• Follow plant rules and safe work practices; perform incidental duties; maintain a clean, orderly area.
