Electrical Project Engineer – Substation (US Eastern Region)

Black & Veatch invites you to join our Engineering & Information Technology team as a Technical Specialist or Project Lead for substation projects across the U.S. Eastern Region. The Opportunity

• Serve as a Technical Specialist or Project Lead, providing coordination, guidance, and expertise on assigned substation projects.
• Support projects ranging up to 765 kV in detailed design and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC).
• Develop protection and control design deliverables : protective relays, panel arrangements, one-line / single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC / DC schematics, relay panel wiring and equipment wiring for high-voltage substation designs.
• Prepare physical design deliverables : yard layout plans, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, and auxiliary AC / DC power systems.
• Perform or oversee quality review of electrical substation design packages.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
• Prepare electrical equipment specifications and Bills of Materials (BOM) for procurement and construction.
• Coordinate project activities with clients, vendors, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
• Present proposals, designs and project activities.
• Potential travel to client and vendor offices and / or project sites for design reviews, construction coordination and field verification.
• Manage design budgets and schedules.
• Support business development or pursuit activities.

The ideal candidate will be located in or willing to relocate to one of the U.S. Eastern Region Power Offices : Ann Arbor, MI; Raleigh, NC; Atlanta, GA; or Orlando, FL.
