Description
The Territory Manager position is responsible for managing and growing sales of pet products to retailers and distributors in the Independent Retail Market channel within a specific regional territory. This person represents and sells numerous manufacturers’ products. The territory manager will achieve sales success by building relationships with store decision makers, providing product knowledge and training to store associates; as well as attending various trade shows and other related functions. The role is conducted in the field and has a significant amount of weekly travel.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Meet with retailers and key accounts weekly
- Maintain and complete an 6-8-week cycle of sales calls. Adheres to route schedule and consistent customer in person visits.
- Sell in monthly and quarterly promotions and adhere to all sales campaigns
- Builds collaborative relationships with customers, dealers, distributors, and vendor partners
- Works closely with Account Manager team and other vendor partners to implement sales strategies
- Identifies, capitalizes, and develops new opportunities
- Efficiently plans weekly travel, maintains diligent receipts, records mileage and submits weekly expense reports
- Executes effective sales and marketing strategies within designated territory
- Accurately records all pertinent information in Customer Relations Management system and maintains daily / weekly notes on customer interactions and sales achieved.
- Participates in required CLA company training as well as with vendors partners as needed.
- Attend various trade shows, which can include setting up booth(s), interacting / selling products; and then dismantling booth(s)
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Qualifications Required :
Minimum of three (3) years outside sales experienceArticulate and can communicate effectively and persuasively with key decision makers.Demonstrate professionalism in all customer interactionsProficient phone skills and ability to write effective and accurate emails and correspondence.Superior attention to detail.Ability to manage competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays and / or unexpected eventsExceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to maintain multiple responsibilities, prioritize tasks effectively and adapt to changing demands.Ability to thrive in a deadline-focused environmentComfortable around animals.Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate customer needs, when attending conferences and to fulfill responsibilities outside of normal working hours.Comfortable with technology, computer skills including MS Office; particularly Excel and PowerPointIn office meeting and planning day every Monday.
