How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse t eam of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Modifier, you will be responsible for making all customer preference modifications to the cooling towers. The position may assume additional duties as assigned. The successful incumbent will be detail oriented, able to follow instructions, and work well in a team atmosphere.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be :
- Assembly and Fabrication
- Identify parts using the build order and coordinate with the correct template or engineering drawing.
- Measure components' positions and perform accurate cutting within the cooling tower using the correct tools and templates.
- Grind edges using a grinder and perform plasma cutting and welding according to tower specifications.
- Reference engineering drawings for solid or tack welding and relocate components using the overhead crane.
- Quality Control and Testing
- Perform leak testing to ensure component integrity.
- Conduct maintenance on tools like torches when needed.
- Accurately interpret build orders, engineering drawings, blueprints, and sketches.
- Ensure all fabrication tasks adhere to safety protocols, using tools and equipment effectively.
- Support and Collaboration
- Support the assembly line as needed, ensuring smooth operation.
- Place welded components on carts and fixtures for transfer to the next station.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure the assembly process follows the build order and engineering specifications.
