Job Summary : The Instructional Technologist II uses pedagogically sound principles to assist faculty with the integration of technology into instruction to enhance teaching and learning. Collaborates with other academic support professionals to provide instructional technology evaluation, faculty support, and documentation to enhance teaching and learning. Provides consultations with faculty and others in academic areas.

Additional Department Summary : Manages the SMC service desk, which is a key technology service point. Answers questions concerning all multimedia software and multimedia production equipment circulated by Circulation Services. Monitors and maintains records concerning needed software updates and computer problems. Records user statistics. Manages and updates the SMC online presence and processing SMC administrative paperwork. Maintains circulating equipment and repairing / purchasing replacements or parts. Assists with the University Libraries media projects, including but not limited to, photography / videography of special events or promotional media for online distribution. Manages the multimedia instruction needs of the SMC. Serves as the SMC student worker supervisor. Assists students in planning, creating, editing, and producing multimedia projects. Provides instruction on project design, on the use of multimedia equipment and software, and teaches instruction sessions ranging from one-on-one sessions and teaching classes of 30 or more students.

Required Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of instructional technology experience; OR master's degree and some instructional technology experience.

Skills and Knowledge : Ability to multitask and complete detailed tasks under pressure. Excellent customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills. Comfortable working on the Mac platform. Ability to communicate effectively online, in person, and via phone. Ability to effectively communicate and interact with a user population and translate instructional technology needs. Ability to collaborate. Ability to maintain strict standards of confidentiality. Demonstrated knowledge of After Effects, Audacity, Garageband Final Cut Pro, iMovie, lnDesign, Illustrator, Motion, Photoshop, Premiere or Logic software package(s).

Preferred Qualifications : Experience in video production, audio production, or graphic design. Experience using electronic multimedia tools to include teaching experience or other relevant experience.
