This position is ON-SITE at the FE Akron Headquarters on White Pond Drive, Akron, OH. Travel to North Canton and Wadsworth, OH is involved. All employees who apply for the posted position must notify their supervisors that they have applied. Base pay range

About the Opportunity

This is a position within FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. This position will be ON-SITE at the Akron headquarters. There will be travel involved in North Canton and Wadsworth, OH area.

Responsibilities for Building Mechanic include inspection, maintenance, and operation of building / facility systems with a primary focus on safety and teamwork to maximize asset life and safe operation. The role may involve greater participation with electrical and HVAC systems, while maintaining capacity to perform all listed responsibilities.

For Building Mechanic A : it is preferred that the candidate has working knowledge of electrical systems including generators, UPS, building switchgear, building automation, power distribution units, motor control centers and circuitry. A certified electrician is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in all Company safety programs and practices; promotes safe work methods in all activities; maintains a high level of safety commitment throughout daily functions.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the Company's safety philosophy, principles, and rules governing safe work practices; works and directs work safely in full compliance.
• Performs work assignments including breakdown maintenance, corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance, room setups, service requests, and jurisdictional inspections.
• Coordinates and administers the preventative and corrective maintenance program at FE facilities.
• Works independently or with others to perform HVAC maintenance; reviews contractor corrective maintenance proposals and performs corrective maintenance when appropriate.
• Collaborates with management to modify or revise HVAC maintenance programs and procedures to optimize effectiveness; develops and monitors performance measures.
• Monitors daily operation of energy management systems at specified facilities, including after hours, holidays, and weekends when on call.
• Installs electrical wiring and equipment for lighting, power supply, and complex control systems.
• Performs regular scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment (filters, belts, component inspection).
• Monitors HVAC system performance; recommends system changes; assists in developing specifications and evaluating options for HVAC projects; knowledgeable about large HVAC systems (chillers, AHUs, CRAC units, humidification).
• Installs and removes mobile / permanent partitions; installs wood trim, floor / ceiling work, and repairs as needed.
• Ensures change management protocols are followed.
• Available for shift work and overtime as assigned; may require weekends and overnight stays as needed; available for 24 / 7 on-call support.
• An employee at Building Mechanic A level will perform all above with greater proficiency and independence; additional responsibilities may be assigned.
