North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center (NFETC) is a 216 bed, all male, forensic, mental health rehabilitation facility. The Center is located in northeast Gainesville, Florida on 639 picturesque acres with regular sightings of deer, turkey and other wildlife. NFETC employs a variety of entry level to leadership positions including food service, maintenance, direct care, nurses, counselors, rehab therapists, medical doctors, security, psychiatrists, and psychologists. Specific Duties and Responsibilities include : Supervision & Leadership : Oversee and evaluate para-professional and non-professional nursing staff, ensuring optimal resident care and compliance with policies. Patient Care : Administer treatments, medications, IVs, and emergency interventions. Provide comprehensive medical, surgical, and psychiatric care to residents. Care Coordination : Collaborate with physicians, dietitians, consultants, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective treatment plans and procedures are followed. Staff Training : Schedule in-service classes, train nursing staff, and conduct performance evaluations to improve the quality of care. Documentation : Maintain accurate patient records, including progress notes, care plans, and medication administration logs. Performs other related duties as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required for the position : Knowledge of nursing principles, practices and techniques. Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology. Ability to provide emergency nursing services. Ability to participate in the planning and implementing of treatment for patients. Ability to conduct individual and group therapy sessions. Minimum Qualifications : Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.27 and two years of professional nursing experience, with at least one year in a specialty area or Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.
