Key Responsibilities
- Provide expertise and guidance to the engineering team during early project stages to develop functional specifications and set design direction.
- Design and develop code for automation equipment (PLCs, HMIs, Industrial Robots, Vision Systems) aligning with functional requirements and Convergix's internal programming standards.
- Lead the team (Electrical, Controls & Robotics leads) through the development of task lists with estimated hours and set milestones based on the schedule.
- Act as the Controls Project Lead to achieve functional targets, meet or beat project budgets, ensure on-time delivery of scope, and deliver an extraordinary customer experience.
- Drive the best controls solution to meet functional requirements by applying best practices and standards while working with the cross-functional team.
- Drive high engineering excellence into projects through critical thinking, judgement, and strong risk management strategies.
- Lead controls specific project meetings (offline programming reviews, design reviews, Stage-Gates, etc.) to articulate risks, challenges, and approaches to gain confidence from internal teams and the customer.
- Support project status updates, forecasting, and issues / risks to the Project Manager or Controls Leadership proactively.
- Support coaching and mentoring of project team members through active oversight of offline programming, commissioning, product testing, deliverables, and cross-functional support.
- Assist mechanical and electrical design teams in selecting, testing, and integrating hardware such as robots, motion controllers, sensors, and vision systems.
- Perform any additional reasonable tasks as required.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (four-year college) or equivalent combination of education and experience.Physical ability to lift at least 25 lbs, work safely on ladders, narrow walkways, and manifold lifts.Experience leading schematic design, HMI, PLC, or GDU developments.Proficiency in one of the following : Schematic Creation, PLC Programming, System Design, Robotics Design and Programming.Preferred : Experience leading controls projects over $5M with a team of 5 or more.Accuracy – Reporting : Ability to track and maintain budgets, forecasting, progress reporting and other administrative functions.Timely – Can complete repeated tasks in a timely manner.Leadership – Can hold peers and leaders accountable to deadlines and deliverables.Accountability – Accepts personal responsibility for actions.Integrity – Is open, honest and has consistency of character.Customer – Can interface directly with the PM, executive leadership team, and customer in a professional manner.People – Is collaborative and works well on a team, and knows how to celebrate a win.Ambition – A healthy desire to improve and grow.Physical Demands
