Under general direction, supervises, plans, and organizes the delivery of assigned elements of San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD) bus and non-revenue vehicle maintenance and repair program; assists in administering hazardous materials storage and disposal procedures; ensures the safety and reliability of RTD's buses and non-revenue vehicles; and performs related duties as assigned.
Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising, monitoring, and providing instruction and training to an assigned group of technicians, mechanics, and other staff engaged in maintaining, servicing, and repairing buses and non-revenue vehicles required to provide reliable and efficient transportation services to the public.
A supervisor inspects completed work, monitors maintenance and repair activities on the shop floor, coordinates the completion of repairs and other services by vendors, and maintains detailed records on work and part orders and inspections.
Class B Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) with passenger and airbrake endorsements must be obtained prior to hire date.
Responsibilities :
- Plans, organizes, assigns, and evaluates the work of assigned staff.
- In accordance with RTD's human resources policies, procedures, and labor contract provisions, plans and evaluates the performance of staff.
- Provides leadership and works with staff to develop and retain highly competent staff.
- Supervises RTD's bus and non-revenue vehicle maintenance programs.
- Supervises the work of technicians, mechanics, and utility workers engaged in maintaining, servicing, and repairing buses and non-revenue vehicles.
- Supervises, manages, or participates in the ordering of shop tools, supplies, and equipment.
- Assists in administering programs for the proper storage and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
- Supervises or manages mobile or stationary revenue collection equipment.
- Researches and resolves or recommends the resolution of customer complaints.
- Monitors developments and trends related to bus and non-revenue vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Responds to vehicle road calls.
- Prepares a variety of reports, correspondence, and records.
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements :
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in public or business administration or closely related field.Six years of progressively responsible fleet maintenance and repair experience.Valid California Class C driver license or higher.Must be able to obtain, at your own expense, a California Class B Learner's permit with both Passenger (P) and Air Brake endorsements.Possession of or the ability to obtain a California Class B commercial Driver License with Passenger (P) and Airbrakes endorsement within ninety (90) days of employment.Benefits :
