Manager, Digital Assets
Position Overview :
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Manager of Digital Assets to oversee the organization, management, and strategic use of our digital assets across the organization. In this role, you will manage our Digital Asset Management (DAM / MAM) system Iconik, oversee organization of our server and storage systems, and ensure that assets are easily accessible, optimized, and distributed. The ideal candidate has a strong background in asset management, digital
workflows, and metadata best practices.
This is a non creative position, though interest in Sports Media, Social Media, and Video Editing is beneficial for the position. You will have direct impact on the quality of our product by optimizing high quality asset retrieval and improving speed and performance of our Digital workflows.
The Chicago Bulls video team BullsTV is the in-house, video production arm within the Bulls Content Department. This team aims to create first-class, compelling
content that advances Bulls fandom, gives a unique insight to the team and contributes to overall business objectives.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee the day-to-day management of the DAM system, including the ingest / upload, organization, and retrieval of digital assets.
- Ensure assets are properly tagged, categorized, and stored to maintain accessibility and ease of use.
- Develop and enforce metadata standards, taxonomies, and governance guidelines to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Create and optimize workflows for asset intake, tagging, review, and distribution to meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders
- Implement processes for asset version control, archiving, and expiration to keep the DAM systems up-to-date.
- Serve as a key point of contact for teams that rely on digital assets, offering guidance on DAM usage, asset retrieval, and best practices.
- Work with Internal IT team and external vendors to troubleshoot technical issues, implement system upgrades, and integrate DAM with other tools and forward thinking workflows.
- Train internal users on DAM functionalities, workflows, and standards, promoting best practices across departments.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure assets meet brand standards, copyright guidelines, and usage rights.
- Maintain documentation on DAM procedures, asset guidelines, and compliance policies.
- Generate reports on DAM system performance, asset usage, and user behavior to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Use data insights to make recommendations for content strategy, asset investment, and DAM optimization.
- Oversee footage strings, BROLL packages, and content retrieval and delivery for various partners.
Qualifications :
Education / Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Sciences, Library Sciences, advanced Technical Degree or equivalent2+ years working with Iconik Media Asset Management software or equivalentExperience and knowledge working in a RAID Server environment, Cloud & LTO Archiving workflows, and Cloud hosted storage solutions.Interest in video content creationFamiliarity with Adobe Premiere Pro and the Adobe Creative Suite5+ years working in the Sports Media landscape or a Newsroom environmentAble to manage, prioritize and focus on multiple projects being developed concurrently.Understanding of industry trends and ways to engage an audience through video content.Experience managing, mentoring, and guiding content creatives in Media Asset Management best practices.Flexibility in an unpredictable environment of an NBA season and a focus on innovation through the ups and downs of team performance.Focus on collaborating with people from different backgrounds & roles; ability to communicate with and work with multiple departments to achieve organizational goals.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.Strong work ethic and highly organized with excellent time management skills.Effective and quick decision-making in a dynamic environment.Compensation & Benefits :
The base salary range for this role is $65,000 - $70,000 annually + annual discretionary bonus. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
