  • Will float between St. Elizabeth Youngstown, St. Elizabeth Boardman, and St. Joseph's Warren Hospitals\n
  • Med Surg / Intermediate Float\n
  • Night Shift - 7pm - 7 : 30am\n
  • Floating occurs in 6 week increments\n\nPrimary Function / General Purpose of Position\n\nThe RN Clinical Float Pool assesses, analyzes, plans, implements and evaluates patient care following established patient care standards for the organization including those for patient assessment and transfer. The primary function of this job, based on hiring tier, is to be available and flexible to float to various departments, and sites throughout the markets within the organization to provide patient care, which could include but not limited to scheduling day of staffing, more than one assignment location within a single shift, travel assignments, or seasonal staffing patterns. Participates as a member of the health care team in cooperation with and under the direction of a clinical manager or designee as defined by the relevant Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse.\n\nEssential Job Functions\n\nRN Clinical Float Pool are hired with the understanding they must float based on the tiers below : \n
  • Tier 2 : Float expectation within multiple sites within a single market based on competency\n\nDemonstrates awareness of and supports organization departmental and operating unit goals through participation in continuous quality improvement and departmental activities.\n\nActs as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department\n\nIncorporates the professional practice model into care delivery\n\nPlans and coordinates nursing care and clinical decisions using the best available evidence.\n\nFormulates and implements a plan of care for each patient which includes interventions, evaluation of response to interventions and documentation as appropriate to condition and age.\n\nIncorporates the professional practice model into care delivery.\n\nThis document is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, duties, requirements, or working conditions associated with the job. Employees may be required to perform other job-related duties as required by their supervisor, subject to reasonable accommodation.\n\nLicensing / Certification\n\nCurrent nursing license in the designated state of employment (required)\n\nBLS Basic Life Support, ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred at hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care; ACLS or PALS required based on specialty assignment)\n\nEducation\n\nAssociate's of Nursing (required)\n\nBachelor's of Nursing (BSN) (preferred)\n\nWork Experience\n\n1 year of experience as an Registered Nurse in acute care (required)\n\nTraining\n\nEPIC Electronic Health Record (preferred)\n\nLanguage\n\nNone\n\nPatient Population\n\nDemonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.\n\nDemonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.?\n\nNeonates (0-4 weeks)\n\nInfant (1-12 months)\n\nPediatrics (1-12 years)\n\nAdolescents (13-17 years)\n\nAdults (18-64 years)\n\nGeriatrics (65 years and older)\n\nSkills\n\n?Medical equipment knowledge\n\nProficient in clinical skills\n\nPrinciples and practices of professional nursing\n\nPerform assessments\n\nProficiency in using computerized tools\n\nAccountability for completion of required education and competencies\n\nExhibits professionalism, ethical practice and customer focused\n\nUse of restraints\n\nCoordination of patient care delivery\n\nIntegration of quality improvement, evidence- based practices and research in practice\n\nTeamwork\n\nCritical thinking\n\nDetail oriented\n\nStrong decision making and problem-solving skills\n\nStrong communication skills both verbal and written\n\nAbility to multi-task\n\nMust be flexible and able to adapt to change\n\nConflict management and resilience\n\nEffective stewardship of available resources\n\nCompassionate, relationship-based approach to help find meaning in illness, suffering, pain, and existence\n\nAs a Mercy Health associate, you're part of a Mission that matters.
