Overview
Identity & Access Management (IAM) Analyst role at UCLA. The IAM Analyst will design, implement, and support advanced identity and access management data, processes, and technologies. The role will collaborate with multiple departments across the university and with external vendors to ensure quality of identity data, establish data standards, and grant appropriate access levels in a timely, secure, and compliant manner, with a focus on automation where possible. The IAM Analyst will evaluate and test new software and upgrades and help produce documentation, procedures, and materials to support IAM services. The role aims to protect UCLA stakeholder information and data in support of the institution's academic and research mission, delivering IAM service consistently across faculty, staff, students, and others while modeling UCLA's culture and values.
Position Summary
The UCLA Information Security Office enables UCLA's goals by providing leadership to assure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information resources. The office also supports incident response planning and notification procedures and works to implement risk assessment strategies to identify vulnerabilities and threats to departmental information resources and enterprise systems. This includes executing a comprehensive UCLA IT security plan with administrative, technical, and physical security measures based on the sensitivity or criticality of risks. Identity and Access Management protects UCLA's resources and supports university operations through enterprise-level account lifecycle management, authentication, access, and role-based provisioning. This team enforces entitlements through granular access control and auditing of all identities managed by UCLA.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and support of IAM data, processes, and technologies.
- Collaborate with multiple departments and external vendors to ensure quality of identity data, establish data standards, and assign appropriate access levels securely and compliantly.
- Evaluate and test new software and upgrades related to IAM.
- Produce documentation, procedures, and materials to support IAM services.
- Advance UCLA's operations and culture by protecting stakeholder information and data in service of the institution's mission.
- Deliver IAM services across faculty, staff, students, and others in a consistent and comprehensive manner.
- Model UCLA's culture and values while executing the organization's IAM vision.
Qualifications
Three years' experience in computer science, cybersecurity, computer information systems, or a related field (Required).Experience using identity and access tools and systems in a distributed IT environment (Required).Experience with IAM monitoring tools and analyzing logs for anomalous user behavior (Required).Experience contributing to an inclusive environment that values equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging (Required).Five or more years in related fields (Preferred).Experience in complex higher education environments serving academic and administrative functions at a large public university (Preferred).Demonstrated skills applying secure user authentication and account management standards to software and hardware (Required).Strong knowledge of IAM principles, technologies, RBAC, IGA, and PAM (Required).Familiarity with directory services (Active Directory, LDAP), authentication (SSO), and MFA solutions (Required).Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey technical information to diverse stakeholders (Required).Ability to establish positive working relationships with team members and customers (Required).Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance priorities and manage multiple projects, including PM practices such as scheduling and risk / issue communication (Required).Strong problem-solving skills; ability to scope solutions based on resources and timelines, ask questions, evaluate options, and make decisions with integrity (Required).Creative thinking and adaptability to a fast-paced environment (Required).Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
Bachelor's Degree in information technology, cybersecurity, computer science, engineering, public administration, business administration, communications, or related field, or equivalent combination of experience / training (Required).Bachelor's Degree in related fields (Preferred).Special Conditions for Employment
The anticipated pay range for this position is $92,033 - $122,000 annually; salary is dependent on the skills and experience of the selected finalist.Background checks : Continued employment contingent upon satisfactory background investigation; Live Scan required prior to start date.Schedule
8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Pacific Time, Monday through Friday and / or variable based on operational needs.
