Job Summary
The Director, Enterprise Architecture is a strategic leadership role responsible for establishing and governing enterprise architecture practices across the organization. This role ensures alignment between business goals and IT strategy, guiding the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and sustainable technology solutions. The Director will lead a team of architects focused on the Cloud, Infrastructure, Application Development, Technology Acquisition, and TCO domains. The ideal candidate will collaborate with senior stakeholders to drive transformation, standards, efficiency and strong cost management.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership :
- Define and evolve the enterprise architecture strategy to support core optimization, growth, and innovation
- Lead the development of multi-year roadmaps for cloud adoption, infrastructure modernization, and application portfolio optimization
- Partner with senior business and IT leaders to align technology investments with strategic priorities
Architecture Governance :
Establish and lead architecture governance frameworks, standards, and processesEnsure compliance with security, regulatory, and operational requirementsDrive consistency and reuse across platforms, applications, and services managing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and Architecture Review Boards (ARB)Technology Acquisition and Cost Management :
Central point for acquisition of hardware, software, and Saas; bringing together technology leaders, procurement, legal, and third-party riskParticipate in larger Cardinal cost management initiativesManage key vendor relationships during technology acquisition phaseCloud & Infrastructure Strategy :
Oversee cloud strategy including hybrid and multi-cloud environmentsGuide infrastructure modernization efforts including network, compute, and storageEvaluate emerging technologies and trends to inform strategic decisionsApplication Development & Integration :
Provide architectural oversight for enterprise application development and integrationPromote API-first, microservices, and DevSecOps practicesSupport agile delivery models and continuous improvement initiativesTeam Leadership & Development :
Build and lead a high-performing team of enterprise architects and domain specialistsFoster a culture of collaboration and accountabilityMentor and develop talent across the architecture functionQualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred. Master's degree a plus10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise architecture, IT strategy, or technology leadership preferredProven experience leading architecture functions in large, complex organizationsDeep expertise in cloud platforms, infrastructure, and modern application developmentStrong understanding of governance, risk, and compliance frameworksExcellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skillsCertifications such as TOGAF, AWS / Azure Architect, or similar are a plusAbility to maintain a regular presence in Dublin, OH HQWhat is expected of you and others at this level
