Overview
As a Tia Billing Coordinator, you will be every Tia member's partner in their health and wellness journey—helping them navigate the healthcare system, billing / claims, and ensuring a concierge-level experience at Tia. You will perform tasks requiring data analysis, in-depth evaluation, and sound judgment. The role requires in-depth knowledge of healthcare billing software and medical insurance policies, plus excellent written and verbal communication skills for interactions with patients and insurance payers. You will partner with cross-functional teams across the company to empower providers to focus on members\' care and support overall business needs.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day member communications - managing member questions & feedback, and resolving member concerns (chat & phone support)
- Act as a single point-of-contact to coordinate resources along the care delivery spectrum, identify gaps, and provide proactive follow-up
- Respond to customer questions via telephone and written correspondence regarding insurance claims
- Navigate through complex billing workflows to communicate to patients and internal teams the next steps in their care
- Collect delinquent accounts by establishing payment arrangements, monitoring payments, and following up when payments lapse
- Examine patient bills for accuracy and request missing information for proper claims processing
- Coordinate with resources and providers to ensure smooth continuum of care and become a subject matter expert in care coordination workflows (billing)
- Ensure that if member needs cannot be answered immediately, connect them to someone who can (e.g., urgent or clinical needs)
- Exercise judgment and discretion in building strong partnerships with members
- Suggest changes to leadership to improve workflows for self and others
- Manage coordination of care within Tia's ecosystem, working cross-functionally to meet member needs
- Clearly document all communications with providers and personnel in standardized documentation and messaging
- Cross-train on additional parts of the care coordination department with a focus on first-contact resolution
- Learn complex workflows for Tia services related to billing, claims and insurance practices
- Tech troubleshooting
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Internet connectivity - Min Speeds : 3.8Mbps / 3.0Mbps (up / down)
- 2-4 years of experience in healthcare billing / claims or related field
- Comfortable with a fast-paced environment and frequent change; energized by metrics
- Understanding of healthcare billing and insurance practices, medical terminology, and member engagement in a healthcare context
- Excellent communication, teamwork and management skills; empathetic but resolute in decision-making; detail-oriented
- Knowledge of contact center software, CRM systems, claims / billing systems, and / or Google Workspace
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to stay composed in high-pressure situations
- Solution-oriented : seek answers through SOPs or collaboration with team members or leadership
- Adherence to strict confidentiality standards and understanding of healthcare data privacy regulations (HIPAA)
