POSITION SUMMARY :
Reporting to the Printing Maintenance Supervisor the Automation Tech is responsible for supporting the daily manufacturing electrical automated operations of the printing, identifying continuous improvement opportunities that provides manufacturing reliability and productivity and providing day-to-day technical support to enable achievement of production targets and Printing Dept. Trouble shooting and repairing various vision systems, lid and case stacking equipment. This person will also perform Preventative Maintenance or work on projects when time permits, as directed by the Printing Management.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITES :
- Provide Day to Day Technical Support to Printing Operations by Installing, maintaining and troubleshooting electrical and automated systems.
- Take ownership and lead resolution of escalated day to day electrical and automation problems using the problem-solving methodology.
- Attend and communicate all issues and other information at shift changeover meetings.
- Provide feedback to Printing Maintenance Supervisor and Lead Electrician on the compliance to processes and procedures.
- Implement Continuous Improvements by identifying improvement opportunities.
- Participate in improvement projects and establishment of associated Standard Work.
- Assist in accreditation of new or upgraded processes.
- Assist process improvement Specialist in establishing requirements for documentation, spare parts and preventative maintenance programs for new projects.
- Identify and communicate to Printing Maintenance Supervisor personnel skill gaps and opportunities.
- Participate with Printing Maintenance Supervisor to establish skill development and training plans.
- Train personnel as required.
- Always comply with plant safety and HACCP, using appropriate PPE while performing various duties
- Monitor and Ensure Health & Safety / HACCP & SQF / 5S Compliance, including proactively identify and suggesting ways to eliminate hazards and participating in safety Investigations when required.
- Must follow food safety and GMP processes and procedures
- Perform set-up of various Plastic Containers and Lid Parts in multiple vision, automated case packers, product feed and discharge systems.
- Repair parts handling equipment as required.
- Adjusts inline section, belt space and speed tension of belts and services pulleys.
- Calculates and setup the angle, space and speed differences for spin bars.
- Adjust photo eye sensors to send signals to PLC
- Perform basic robotic maintenance
- Accurately complete all other required documentation and record issues as instructed
- Perform line clearance and conduct front line quality check
- Ensure full communication of all information to next shift to ensure smooth running of production
- Escalate process changes to Process Improvement Specialist
- Identify product at risk and escalate to Shift Supervisor
- Must follow food safety and GMP processes and procedures – training is provided
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
Educational Requirements : Must have two years of applied electrical technology(preferred) .
Minimum Experience / Field : Minimum 2 years of technical automation experience.
Computer Skills : Good PC skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications . Various software applications to communicate and troubleshoot equipment.
Physical Requirements : Heavy lifting and prolonged standing is required. Walking, climbing, reaching, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling and some repetitive arm, wrist and shoulder movements are required in this position.
Communication Skills : Proven track record working with people and problem resolution and strong interpersonal, collaboration skills
Additional Education / Experience / Skills :
Ability to read, interpret and revise relay and ladder logic, power distribution drawings and documentations.Ability to install, maintain and troubleshoot AC / DC motors, drives sensors and detectorsKnowledge of terminology and operation of PLC-based control systems.A proven ability to troubleshoot remote I / O.Strong mechanical ability and proven ability to root cause and determine permanent corrective actions.General knowledge of Dry offset printing operations is desirable.CORE COMPETENCIES FOR THIS POSITION :
