Library Support Assistant Job at University of Arkansas in Pine Bluff

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff is seeking a library assistant to work in the Archives and Special Collections Department.

Job Summary

Assists with inventorying and entering resources into the Archive database, completes training in the operation of the CONTENTdm program, and trains on operating and using Archive Scanner and other equipment to assist patrons.

Responsibilities

• Assists with inventorying and entering resources located in file cabinets, storage boxes, donations, and found in other areas of the library that qualify as an Archive or Special Collection item into the Archive database.
• Completes training in the operation of the CONTENTdm program to assist in adding documents in the Archives and Special Collections Department's database.
• Trains on operating and using Archive Scanner and other equipment to assist patrons.
• Digitizes various documents and ensures appropriate safeguard of copyright-related documents.
• Greets patrons and assists with locating documents in archives, special collections, and other resources needed for in-house use or copying (following copyright laws).
• Ensures that patrons do not take or damage resources during use by watching patrons using resources at all times.
• Maintains statistics on use and outgoing resources, incoming calls, and patron contacts.
• Completes staff development activities as assigned.
• Provides desk duty at the Serials Desk on the second floor to assist patrons in finding resources needed and ensure they follow library guidelines.
• Works hours Sunday - Thursday 3 : 00 pm-11 : 00 pm.
• Cooperates with faculty and staff to implement university and library activities as needed.
• Ensures patrons are following library and campus guidelines by not being disruptive, loud, or disturbing others on the second floor and other parts of the library as needed.
• Ensures patrons do not bring food and drink items into the library.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma and experience with filing, shelving, and data entry. Experience working in a library preferred.

Salary Information

$28,000 - $30,000
