Description

BASIC FUNCTION :

The shipping / receiving position verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments, assists with material handling and inventory management ensuring accuracy and timeliness while maintaining shipping and receiving areas in a safe and orderly area.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES :

• Responsible for labeling shipments ensuring effective and timeliness of purchase orders logging information into the database for proper tracking and fulfillment.
• Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
• Prepare documents, such as bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route products.
• Supports the shipment of goods produced and the received goods and supplies to be used in or to aid in the production or storage of products.
• At times may assist with coordinating pick up by the carrier specified on the customer's purchase order, which is conveyed by final inspection via the shipping instructions.
• Assist shipping and receiving unloading trucks, checking in materials and product, matching purchase orders to sales orders and distributing for processing, at times safely using equipment to include forklift and other tools / supplies.
• Read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed and / or shipped.
• Move materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.
• Ensure compliance of preventative maintenance activities for forklift trucks and other warehouse equipment including delivery vehicles, working to address any equipment issues.
• Operate forklift, truck, or electric hoist following all procedures to safety operate while loading or moving materials and products.
• Assist in correcting problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications.
• Support with contacting carrier representatives to decide or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
• Wear and use all safety equipment as required and properly.
• Responsible for always keeping an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand.
• May be assigned facilities maintenance duties as needed to include sweeping and dusting; always assist with organizing warehouse and work area for orderliness.
• Communicate effectively with key stakeholders and upper management, providing information and insights that are valuable to business decision-making.
