Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiothoracic ICU position requiring CVICU experience and telemetry testing in Wisconsin or compact states.

Responsibilities

Work in a Cardiothoracic ICU within a hospital environment

Patient population includes cardiac and thoracic surgery, heart and lung transplant, and patients with advanced medical devices

Acuity adaptable unit with high complexity and specialized care needs

12-hour day / evening shifts (0700-1930) with every other weekend and some holidays required

No on-call responsibilities

Travelers are the first to float and may be scheduled in multiple units or locations as needed

Primary responsibilities include high acuity care for cardiothoracic surgery and transplant patients

Must demonstrate technological skills and provide comprehensive support to patients and families

Role includes teamwork with the transplant and surgery teams

Strict telemetry test pass / fail criteria applies, with up to two attempts allowed prior to start

Orientation typically takes place at the main hospital and lasts about one week

First-time travelers may be accepted on some units

Holiday coverage is required and reviewed during candidate selection

Requirements

Active WI or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration

BLS and ACLS certifications required through the American Heart Association

Minimum 2 years CVICU acute care experience within the last 3 years

Basic arrhythmia and telemetry experience required; must pass telemetry test prior to start

Experience with NextStage CVVH machine required

Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
