Senior Accountant / Analyst

The senior accountant / analyst is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.

Responsibilities include : compiling and analyzing financial information to prepare financial statements, ensuring financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures, meeting all financial reporting deadlines, preparing financial management reports, ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end close, establishing and monitoring the implementation and maintenance of accounting and control procedures, resolving accounting discrepancies and irregularities, providing continuous support of budget and forecasted activities, preparing for financial audits, ensuring accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues / expenses, completing account reconciliations, assisting with SOX compliance, analyzing and advising on business operations including revenue and expenditure trends, analyzing financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, and providing strategic recommendations. Special projects as assigned may also be required.

The Senior Accountant / Analyst may specialize in one area of the accounting function. Additional specific tasks may include compiling and analyzing financial statements, preparing monthly and quarterly exhibits and schedules, calculating and preparing monthly journal entries, analyzing monthly data, preparing required and requested reinsurance statistics and exhibits, and preparing and filing insurance regulatory reports.

Qualifications include five plus years of relevant accounting experience, knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles, strong PC skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office products, excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills, demonstrated ability to improve work processes, ability to manage a special project team, and being a team player with initiative.

Education : B.S. Accounting or equivalent
