Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Physical Therapist for inpatient rehabilitation, requiring at least 1 year of acute care or rehab hospital experience and an active IL license.
Responsibilities
Work in an acute care hospital setting, primarily in the PT inpatient rehab unitDay shifts scheduled from 9 : 00 AM to 5 : 30 PM, five days a week with every third weekend requiredFloating throughout various hospital units and affiliate hospitals is requiredPatient populations include cardiopulmonary, geriatric, neurologic, and orthopedic cases, with age-specific competencies from adolescents to older adultsCerner EMR system is used; prior Cerner experience is preferredLevel II trauma center environment with teaching hospital exposure preferredResponsibilities include evaluation, assessment, development of care plans, and discharge planning for a diverse patient populationUse of a variety of equipment and devices including gait belts, hospital beds, Hoyer lifts, prosthetics, and assistive mobility devicesTraining and orientation include virtual modules to be completed on the first dayScrub color is grayNo call requiredParking permit available at no cost to the travelerEvery third weekend and coverage of at least two major holidays requiredUp to 5 days of non-holiday requested time off will be auto-approvedFormer permanent or PRN employees must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a travelerLocal candidates are accepted with no radius restrictionsLicense required if applicableRequirements
Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient rehab or acute care physical therapy experience requiredActive Illinois PT license required for considerationCurrent BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross only; RQI cards not accepted)Experience with cardiopulmonary, geriatric, neurology, and orthopedic patient populations requiredProficiency in vital signs assessment, adaptive and assistive devices, and orthopedics / neurologic case managementExperience with Cerner charting preferredMust be able to float within scope as neededMust be in Illinois at least 3 business days prior to compliance deadline for fingerprintingBenefits
