Job Summary / Description :

WNDU is seeking a morning news co-anchor. We are looking for an aggressive co-anchor who is passionate about covering local news and weather. The candidate must be an energetic “morning person” who can give viewers something to look forward to in the mornings. We need someone who can be a co-anchor but also a solo-anchor for several hours when necessary and serve as a co-producer during the overnight hours. We seek an anchor who will be involved in the day-to-day operations of the newsroom, be a leader, and be a researcher who will assist in developing enterprise content.

Duties / Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

• Collaborating and assisting show producers with the writing of news content
• Researching, gathering, shooting, writing, and editing news stories for on-air and online
• Completing regular franchise reports
• Writing in a clear, concise, conversational manner
• Possessing excellent interview and conversational writing / presentation skills
• Reporting “live” on the scene during breaking news or weather
• Developing and maintaining sources of information
• Demonstrating sound news judgment
• Enterprising, hard-news, research-driven stories under tight deadlines
• Participating in editorial meetings
• Attending / hosting / speaking at schools and community events
• Posting and regularly updating stories and other material on the web and social media
• Interacting with viewers on social media, including a regular presence on Facebook Live
• Following clothing and appearance guidelines set by news management.
• Learning a broad and working knowledge of the viewing area, including people, places, things, and history
• Possibly producing and anchoring at least 15-30 minutes a day on OTT
• Performing other job-related duties as assigned
• Meeting tight deadlines and working well under pressure
• Maintaining professional and ethical conduct in the station and in the community
• Maintaining a positive work atmosphere
• Staying current with national and local news / weather
